Do You Want To Play a Game?

Jodie and I love playing games. We play Boggle, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Catch Phrase, cards, and dominoes all the time, especially at family gatherings. Lately, though, we've really enjoyed playing a German-style board game called Carcassonne. It's a different style of game than ones most people are accustomed to playing. Nonetheless, it has become a big hit with our friends. Jodie likes it more than my current favorite, Puerto Rico. (Visit my "Board Games" link for information on more games like these.)

Tonight we played Scene It? for the first time with friends Cary and Sally. It's a DVD movie trivia game that's quite fun to play and watch in a group. The game uses printed trivia questions along with on-screen movie clips, quizzes, and puzzles. One clever puzzle displays a scene from a movie where the actor has been digitally edited out of the frame. The object is to then guess the name of the movie. Another puzzle plays just like Wheel of Fortune to uncover hidden movie titles. Short movie clips are used throughout the game to test both triva knowledge and perception skills. Like other trivia-based games one could forego the game's playing board and be just as entertained as we were with all the trivia material; it's that much fun to watch!
